Period and Listed Gardens

Here at Floral & Hardy we have created gardens for some lovely period houses and listed buildings. It is important that the design is not only to be in sympathy with the style and age of the property, but of course the owners must be happy with the final result.

Here are some we created earlier

The Only Way is Essex

These are the gardens to an 18th century, Grade II listed building in Chigwell, Essex, comprising a former stable block plus later additions, which have been stunningly converted into a beautiful family home.

Upstairs, Downstairs

These are the gardens to a unique, end of terrace, mews-style property in the grounds of a former Grade II listed manor house, with spectacular views over fields and woodland.

Large garden in Pembury that has a formal garden toward the end of the grounds

To the Manor Born

This the large back garden to a substantial and attractive, red brick, Grade II listed property in Pembury, picturesquely situated overlooking the village green.

Large garden with croquet lawn

Croquet Anyone?

These are the substantial rear & front gardens to an early 19th century, Grade II listed house on a wide plot in the quiet, riverside location of Shoreham in Kent.

Long thin garden with some formal planting and some informal planting

Great Expectations

This is a beautiful period house in Rochester, Kent near to both the castle and cathedral, with views over the River Medway, and our clients wanted the garden to reflect that, both in style and quality.

Large garden in Chislehurst with raised terraces to the rear

Country Living

Our clients had renovated this detached property in Chislehurst, Kent to a very high standard and they wanted to replicate the same quality of finish to the outside spaces.

Country garden for a large house with a natural water feature

Country Garden with Natural Water Course

The whole plot was surrounded by large trees and hedging and there was little colour in the garden. Our clients wanted to create a traditional country-style garden with lots of colour and traditional features. They are keen gardeners and also wanted a space for growing vegetables and fruit.

Large garden with cottage style planting

From Russia with Love

Although well kept, the garden had been planted in a rather unimaginative way with boring shrubs and little seasonal colour.

Our clients wanted a traditional English country style garden with some formal touches.

Small garden with cottage planting

Village Gem

These are the gardens surrounding a modern detached property in the pretty village of Shoreham in Kent that is built in the grounds of a large period house.

Grade II listed, 18th century detached house in Goodneston

The Parsonage

These are the large, English Country gardens to a beautiful Garde II, 18th Century listed building in a lovely, quiet village.

Small garden with outside room

Inside Out

The garden of an 18th century cottage in a conservation area. Our client had a very hectic lifestyle, but wanted to be able to use her garden as a valuable outside entertaining space and as somewhere to relax after a busy day.
